Comforters
Comforter sizes: calculate finished coverage
A comforter’s useful width equals mattress width plus the desired drop on both sides. Finished label dimensions vary by manufacturer.
Semrush US · 1,000 searches/mo · KD 15| Label or calculation | Dimensions | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Width formula | mattress width + 2 × side drop | Add both sides. |
| Length formula | mattress length + top allowance + foot drop | Choose whether the head is tucked or aligned. |
Manufacturer variation matters.
Do not assume every Queen or King comforter has the same finished dimensions.
Measurement method
Start with the product and space you actually have.
- 1
Measure the mattress. Record width, length, and full depth without relying on the label.
- 2
Add every layer. Toppers and pads change fitted-sheet pocket needs.
- 3
Choose coverage. Decide the side drop, foot drop, top alignment, and any tuck.
- 4
Read finished dimensions. Compare your target with the actual product specification.
